In the Central Plains, Guan Gong, as a typical representative of the culture of loyalty and righteousness, has been honored by successive rulers, and his name has been continuously bestowed. Buddhism also created the legend of Guan Gong manifesting himself on Mount Yuquan in Jingzhou after his death and being instructed by Master Zhizi of the Tiantai Sect to convert to Buddhism, making Guan Gong one of the two major Buddhist protectors of the Jataka Bodhisattva. Guan Yu, also known as Guan Sheng Di Jun, holds a Yuan Bao in one hand and a large sword in the other signifying the attraction of wealth.
